Early Season Reports – WAC

Boise State

Recap:  Boise State is in good position for another undefeated season, with a 3-0 start that includes wins over Oregon, Miami (OH) and Fresno State.

Stats so far:  Boise ranks 29th with 5.04 yards per rush attempt and 34th with 8 yards per passing attempt.  Overall, they have averaged 39.3 points and 427.3 yards on offense per game.  Defensively, they are 101st with 4.74 yards allowed per rush attempt and 11th with 4.8 yards allowed per pass attempt.  Overall, they have allowed 14 points and 284.3 yards per game.

Coming up:  With a couple of tough games behind them, the Broncos look to continue winning and rising in games against Bowling Green, California-Davis and Tulsa.

Fresno State

Recap:  After blowing out California-Davis, Fresno nearly pulled off an overtime upset of Wisconsin then got blasted by Boise State.

Stats so far: FSU is 6th with 6.22 yards per rush attempt and 25th with 8.4 yards per passing attempt.  Overall, they have scored 38.7 points and gained 495.3 yards on offense per game.  Defensively, they are 115th with 6.02 yards allowed per rush attempt and 52nd with 6.2 yards allowed per pass attempt.  Overall, they have allowed 28.3 points and 374.7 yards per game.

Coming up:  The Bulldogs take on Cincinnati, Hawaii and San Jose Sate.

Hawaii

Recap:  A 1-point loss at UNLV kept Hawaii from a 3-0 start after wins over Central Arkansas and Washington State.

Stats so far:  Hawaii ranks 62nd with 4 yards per rush attempt and 2nd with 10.9 yards per passing attempt.  Overall, they have averaged 32 points and 515.3 yards on offense per game.  Defensively, they are 50th with 3.39 yards allowed per rush attempt and 64th with 6.7 yards allowed per pass attempt.  Overall, they have allowed 24.7 points and 377.7 yards per game.

Coming up:  The Warriors face Louisiana Tech, Fresno State and Idado.

Idaho

Recap:  Idaho has wins over New Mexico State and San Diego State to go with a loss to the Pac 10’s Washington.

Stats so far:  Idaho is 66th with 3.97 yards per rush attempt and 27th with 8.3 yards per passing attempt.  Overall, they have scored 26 points and gained 380.3 yards on offense per game.  Defensively, they are 38th with 3.18 yards allowed per rush attempt and 84th with 7.3 yards allowed per pass attempt.  Overall, they have allowed 22.7 points and 337.3 yards per game.

Coming up:  The Vandals take on Northern Illinois, Colorado State and San Jose State.

Louisiana Tech

Recap:  A blow out of Nicholls State followed big losses to Auburn and Navy.

Stats so far:  LaTech ranks 101st with 3.11 yards per rush attempt and 57th with 7.1 yards per passing attempt.  Overall, they have averaged 25 points and 323.3 yards on offense per game.  Defensively, they are 100th with 4.7 yards allowed per rush attempt and 103rd with 8.2 yards allowed per pass attempt.  Overall, they have allowed 27.3 points and 406.7 yards per game.

Coming up:  The Bulldogs take on Hawaii, Nevada and New Mexico State.

Nevada

Recap:  Nevada has losses at Notre Dame and Colorado State.

Stats so far:  Nevada is 20th with 5.37 yards per rush attempt and 87th with 6.2 yards per passing attempt.  Overall, they have scored 10 points and gained 363.5 yards on offense per game.  Defensively, they are 92nd with 4.41 yards allowed per rush attempt and 120th with 12.7 yards allowed per pass attempt.  Overall, they have allowed 35 points and 439.5 yards per game.

Coming up:  The Wolf Pack face Missouri, UNLV and Louisiana Tech.

New Mexico State

Recap:  NMSU is not off to the best start with big losses to Idaho and UTEP and a 3-point win over Prairie View A&M.

Stats so far:  NMSU ranks 49th with 4.31 yards per rush attempt and 112th with 5.1 yards per passing attempt.  Overall, they have averaged 13 points and 310 yards on offense per game.  Defensively, they are 104th with 4.83 yards allowed per rush attempt and 41st with 6 yards allowed per pass attempt.  Overall, they have allowed 25.7 points and 323 yards per game.

Coming up:  The Aggies take on New Mexico, San Diego State and Utah State.

San Jose State

Recap:  The 0-3 start features big losses to USC, Utah and Stanford.

Stats so far:  SJSU is 120th with 0.68 yards per rush attempt and 110th with 5.4 yards per passing attempt.  Overall, they have scored 11.3 points and gained 204.3 yards on offense per game.  Defensively, they are 118th with 6.43 yards allowed per rush attempt and 117th with 10 yards allowed per pass attempt.  Overall, they have allowed 40.7 points and 500.3 yards per game.

Coming up:  The Spartans face Cal Poly, Idaho and Fresno State.

Utah State

Recap:  After getting blasted by Utah, Utah State kept it close in a loss to Texas A&M.

Stats so far:  Utah State ranks 26th with 5.1 yards per rush attempt and 88th with 6.1 yards per passing attempt.  Overall, they have averaged 23.5 points and 431.5 yards on offense per game.  Defensively, they are 106th with 5.15 yards allowed per rush attempt and 106th with 8.6 yards allowed per pass attempt.  Overall, they have allowed 36.5 points and 546 yards per game.

Coming up:  The Aggies take on Southern Utah, BYU and New Mexico State.
