Coming up:  Boston College will take on Wake Forest before big-time meetings with Florida State and Virginia Tech.  The goal will be to go at least 2-1 in those 3 games.

Clemson

Recap:  Clemson has solid wins over Middle Tennessee and Boston College, but fell short in a comeback attempt against Georgia Tech.

Coming up:  The Tigers will look to knock BCS Buster-wannabe TCU, then face conference foes Maryland and Wake Forest.  Less than two wins here would be disappointing.

Florida State

Recap:  After losing a shootout with Miami and nearly dropping another one to Jacksonville State, Florida State knocked off a very good BYU team 54-28.

Coming up:  The Seminoles hope to translate the new momentum into wins against South Florida, Boston College, and Georgia Tech.  Another ACC loss could be fatal.

Coming up:  The Terrapins face Rutgers, Clemson and Wake Forest.  A win in any of those games would be a plus for the struggling team.

North Carolina State

Recap:  NC State lost 7-3 to South Carolina in week one, and then soothed their frustration with blowouts of cupcakes Murray State and Gardner-Webb.

Stats so far:  NC State ranks 97th with 3.29 yards per rush attempt and 42nd with 7.8 yards per passing attempt.  Overall, they have averaged 37.7 points and 364.7 yards on offense per game.  Defensively, they are 9th with 2.04 yards allowed per rush attempt and 7th with 4.6 yards allowed per pass attempt.  Overall, they have allowed 9.3 points and 168.3 yards per game.

Wake Forest

Coming up:  The Demon Deacons take on conference foes Boston College, NC State, and Maryland.  A couple of wins here would be nice.  Losing to Maryland is unacceptable.

Duke

Recap:  Duke fizzled in an opening week loss to Richmond.  A solid victory over Army was followed by a blowout loss to Kansas.

Stats so far:  Duke ranks 113th with 2.27 yards per rush attempt and 85th with 6.3 yards per passing attempt.  Overall, they have averaged 22.3 points and 333 yards on offense per game.  Defensively, they are 83rd with 4.24 yards allowed per rush attempt and 73rd with 6.9 yards allowed per pass attempt.  Overall, they have allowed 29 points and 385.7 yards per game.

Coming up:  The Blue Devils should be able to beat North Carolina Central.  Games against Virginia Tech and NC State aren’t likely to go so well.

Georgia Tech

Recap:  A big win over Jacksonville State was followed by a scary 3-point victory over Clemson.  Georgia Tech then ran into the revived buzzsaw that is Miami, losing 33-17.

Stats so far:  Tech is 22nd with 5.3 yards per rush attempt and 6th with 9.8 yards per passing attempt.  Overall, they have scored 28 points and gained 381 yards on offense per game.  Defensively, they are 65th with 3.77 yards allowed per rush attempt and 93rd with 7.6 yards allowed per pass attempt.  Overall, they have allowed 25.7 points and 377 yards per game.

Coming up:  The Yellow Jackets take on North Carolina, Mississippi State, and Florida State.  Losing more than one of these would be a major setback.

Miami

Recap:  Miami is off to a nice 2-0 start with impressive wins over Florida State and Georgia Tech.

Stats so far:  Miami ranks 66th with 3.97 yards per rush attempt and 1st with 11.1 yards per passing attempt.  Overall, they have averaged 35.5 points and 465 yards on offense per game.  Defensively, they are 31st with 2.97 yards allowed per rush attempt and 93rd with 7.6 yards allowed per pass attempt.  Overall, they have allowed 25.5 points and 316 yards per game.

Coming up:  Miami has two more huge games against Virginia Tech and Oklahoma before taking a breather against Florida A&M.  They may be looking at a #1 national ranking if they pull off the first two, and had better keep their focus in the third.

North Carolina

Recap:  A close win on the road at Connecticut and two big victories over Citadel and East Carolina have North Carolina off to a nice 3-0 start.

Stats so far:  UNC is 80th with 3.73 yards per rush attempt and 37th with 7.9 yards per passing attempt.  Overall, they have scored 27.7 points and gained 358.7 yards on offense per game.  Defensively, they are 7th with 1.85 yards allowed per rush attempt and 7th with 4.6 yards allowed per pass attempt.  Overall, they have allowed 11 points and 198.7 yards per game.

Coming up:  Virginia would love to get a win out of North Carolina, Indiana, or Maryland, but it won’t be easy.

Virginia Tech

Recap:  After losing by 10 to SEC powerhouse Alabama, Virginia Tech crushed Marshall and pulled off a nice 16-15 win over Nebraska.

Stats so far:  Tech is 34th with 4.91 yards per rush attempt and 72nd with 6.7 yards per passing attempt.  Overall, they have scored 30.7 points and gained 346 yards on offense per game.  Defensively, they are 111th with 5.32 yards allowed per rush attempt and 20th with 5.3 yards allowed per pass attempt.  Overall, they have allowed 19.7 points and 364.3 yards per game.

Coming up:  The Hokies have a huge test with Miami, followed by Duke and Boston College.  They’d love to snatch one from the Hurricanes, and the other two are must-wins if they want to play for the conference title.
