Air Force

Recap:  Air Force blasted Nicholls State, then lost a close game at Minnesota before trouncing New Mexico 37-13.

Stats so far:  Air Force ranks 32nd with 5.01 yards per rush attempt and 8 with 9.7 yards per passing attempt.  Overall, they have averaged 40.7 points and 444.3 yards on offense per game.  Defensively, they are 70th with 3.98 yards allowed per rush attempt and 36th with 5.9 yards allowed per pass attempt.  Overall, they have allowed 11 points and 256 yards per game.

Coming up:  The Falcons have some tough contests with San Diego State, fellow service academy Navy and conference powerhouse TCU.

Brigham Young

Recap:  BYU started off with a bang as they edged Big 12 giant Oklahoma.  After a dominating win at Tulane, they were everybody’s favorite potential BCS Buster.  That bubble was popped when Florida State came to town and put a 54-28 hurting on the Cougars.

Stats so far: BYU is 87th with 3.53 yards per rush attempt and 9th with 9.6 yards per passing attempt.  Overall, they have scored 32 points and gained 452.3 yards on offense per game.  Defensively, they are 95th with 4.5 yards allowed per rush attempt and 30 with 5.7 yards allowed per pass attempt.  Overall, they have allowed 23.3 points and 313 yards per game.

Coming up:  The Cougars will move on from the disappointing loss to Florida State with games against Colorado State, Utah State and UNLV.

Colorado State

Recap:  Colorado State is off to a 3-0 start with wins over the Big 12’s Colorado, plus Weber State and Nevada.

Stats so far:  Colorado State ranks 74th with 3.8 yards per rush attempt and 4th with 10.3 yards per passing attempt.  Overall, they have averaged 27.3 points and 350.3 yards on offense per game.  Defensively, they are 28th with 2.91 yards allowed per rush attempt and 33rd with 5.8 yards allowed per pass attempt.  Overall, they have allowed 20 points and 329 yards per game.

Coming up:  The Rams will take on conference big guns BYU and Utah, as well as a road trip to Idaho.

New Mexico

Recap:  Things have gotten ugly early for New Mexico, who have been blown out by Texas A&M, Tulsa, and Air Force.

Stats so far:  New Mexico is 93rd with 3.38 yards per rush attempt and 118th with 4.6 yards per passing attempt.  Overall, they have scored 9.7 points and gained 230.7 yards on offense per game.  Defensively, they are 84th with 4.26 yards allowed per rush attempt and 110th with 9 yards allowed per pass attempt.  Overall, they have allowed 40.7 points and 488.7 yards per game.

Coming up:  The road won’t be getting much easier for the Lobos anytime soon with games against New Mexico State, Texas Tech and Wyoming.

San Diego State

Recap:  Two decisive losses to UCLA and Idaho bookended a win over Southern Utah in San Diego States 1-2 start.

Stats so far:  San Diego State ranks 100th with 3.12 yards per rush attempt and 76th with 6.6 yards per passing attempt.  Overall, they have averaged 23 points and 336.3 yards on offense per game.  Defensively, they are 63rd with 3.75 yards allowed per rush attempt and 70th with 6.8 yards allowed per pass attempt.  Overall, they have allowed 28.7 points and 339 yards per game.

Coming up:  The Aztecs take on Air Force, New Mexico State, and BYU.

Texas Christian

Recap:  TCU has notched big wins against Virginia and Texas State.

Stats so far:  TCU is 28th with 5.09 yards per rush attempt and 20th with 8.9 yards per passing attempt.  Overall, they have scored 43 points and gained 444 yards on offense per game.  Defensively, they are 3rd with 1.53 yards allowed per rush attempt and 36th with 5.9 yards allowed per pass attempt.  Overall, they have allowed 17.5 points and 213 yards per game.

Coming up:  The Horned Frogs will look to add credibility on a trip to Clemson.  They also take on Southern Methodist and Air Force.

UNLV

Recap:  UNLV has wins over Sacramento State and Hawaii, along with a close loss to the Pac 10’s Oregon State.

Stats so far:  UNLV ranks 55th with 4.14 yards per rush attempt and 27th with 8.3 yards per passing attempt.  Overall, they have averaged 31 points and 412 yards on offense per game.  Defensively, they are 69th with 3.97 yards allowed per rush attempt and 101st with 7.9 yards allowed per pass attempt.  Overall, they have allowed 19.7 points and 371.7 yards per game.

Coming up:  The Rebels travel to Wyoming and Nevada before hosting BYU.

Utah

Recap:  After nice wins over Utah State and San Jose State, Utah couldn’t keep their winning streak alive, falling to Oregon on the road 31-24.

Stats so far:  Utah is 36th with 4.9 yards per rush attempt and 67th with 6.8 yards per passing attempt.  Overall, they have scored 27.7 points and gained 438.3 yards on offense per game.  Defensively, they are 88th with 4.3 yards allowed per rush attempt and 41st with 6 yards allowed per pass attempt.  Overall, they have allowed 20.7 points and 306 yards per game.

Coming up:  The Utes will take on Louisville, Colorado State, and UNLV.

Wyoming

Recap:  Wyoming managed a 7-point win over Weber State before getting blasted by the Big 12’s Texas and Colorado.

Stats so far:  Wyoming ranks 91st with 3.48 yards per rush attempt and 119th with 4.5 yards per passing attempt.  Overall, they have averaged 13 points and 312.3 yards on offense per game.  Defensively, they are 80th with 4.23 yards allowed per rush attempt and 57th with 6.4 yards allowed per pass attempt.  Overall, they have allowed 29 points and 427 yards per game.

Coming up:  The Cowboys welcome UNLV, go to Florida Atlantic and host New Mexico.
