Colorado

Recap:  Colorado is hurting with losses to Colorado State and Toledo.  Last week’s 24-0 win over Wyoming helps a little.

Stats so far:  Colorado ranks 103rd with 3.09 yards per rush attempt and 104th with 5.6 yards per passing attempt.  Overall, they have averaged 26.3 points and 342.7 yards on offense per game.  Defensively, they are 93rd with 4.46 yards allowed per rush attempt and 110th with 9 yards allowed per pass attempt.  Overall, they have allowed 25.7 points and 410 yards per game.

Coming up:  Buckle up, Buffaloes.  Three more losses seem imminent with trips to West Virginia and Texas and a home game against Kansas.  One win here would be beyond noteworthy.

Iowa State

Recap:  Wins over North Dakota State and Kent State are fine, but the blowout loss to Iowa should cause major concern.

Coming up:  The Cyclones face Army, Kansas State and Kansas and would love to come away with two wins, although one is far more likely.

Kansas

Recap:  The 3-0 start features blowouts of Northern Colorado, UTEP and Duke.

Stats so far:  Kansas ranks 7th with 6.13 yards per rush attempt and 27th with 8.3 yards per passing attempt.  Overall, they have averaged 42.3 points and 537.7 yards on offense per game.  Defensively, they are 14th with 2.22 yards allowed per rush attempt and 47th with 6.1 yards allowed per pass attempt.  Overall, they have allowed 8.7 points and 282.7 yards per game.

Coming up:  The Jayhawks should stay perfect through games against Southern Miss, Iowa State and Colorado.

Kansas State

Recap:  Kansas State has a 4-point win over Massachusetts and losses to Louisiana-Lafayette and UCLA.

Stats so far:  Kansas State is 79th with 3.74 yards per rush attempt and 88th with 6.1 yards per passing attempt.  Overall, they have scored 15 points and gained 350.7 yards on offense per game.  Defensively, they are 89th with 4.33 yards allowed per rush attempt and 12th with 5 yards allowed per pass attempt.  Overall, they have allowed 19 points and 286 yards per game.

Coming up:  The Wildcats have Tennessee Tech, Iowa State and Texas Tech on tap.  Two wins is not out of the question, but neither is three losses.

Missouri

Recap:  Things got scary against Bowling Green, but the solid wins over Illinois and Furman make the 3-0 start promising.

Stats so far:  Missouri ranks 53rd with 4.22 yards per rush attempt and 34th with 8 yards per passing attempt.  Overall, they have averaged 38.7 points and 440 yards on offense per game.  Defensively, they are 41st with 3.23 yards allowed per rush attempt and 36th with 5.9 yards allowed per pass attempt.  Overall, they have allowed 13.7 points and 347.7 yards per game.

Coming up:  A road trip to Nevada should result in a win, while games against Nebraska and Oklahoma State will be crucial Big 12 contests.

Nebraska

Recap:  After hammering Florida Atlantic and Arkansas State, Nebraska fell one point shy of upsetting Virginia Tech on the road.

Stats so far:  Nebraska is 5th with 6.27 yards per rush attempt and 47th with 7.6 yards per passing attempt.  Overall, they have scored 34 points and gained 442.3 yards on offense per game.  Defensively, they are 39th with 3.19 yards allowed per rush attempt and 57th with 6.4 yards allowed per pass attempt.  Overall, they have allowed 9.3 points and 303.3 yards per game.

Coming up:  The Cornhuskers have a breather against Louisiana-Lafayette before big-time clashes with conference foes Missouri and Texas Tech.

Baylor

Recap:  After a nice win over Wake Forest, Baylor slipped up against Connecticut.

Stats so far:  Baylor ranks 11th with 5.93 yards per rush attempt and 105th with 5.5 yards per passing attempt.  Overall, they have averaged 23 points and 316 yards on offense per game.  Defensively, they are 67th with 3.92 yards allowed per rush attempt and 24th with 5.4 yards allowed per pass attempt.  Overall, they have allowed 25.5 points and 325.5 yards per game.

Coming up:  The Bears will look to rebound against Northwestern State and Kent State before taking on heavyweight Oklahoma.

Oklahoma

Recap:  Oklahoma lost to BYU and lost Heisman QB Sam Bradford for several weeks.  The team bounced back by shutting out cupcakes Idaho State and Tulsa.

Coming up:  The Sooners have big tests coming up in Miami (FL), Baylor, and Texas.  They need to win out to keep their championship hopes alive, but if they’re not careful (or if Bradford isn’t healthy), they may end up losing all three.

Oklahoma State

Recap:  After knocking off Georgia in week one, OSU got caught napping by Houston then beat up on Rice.

Stats so far:  OSU ranks 65th with 3.98 yards per rush attempt and 30th with 8.2 yards per passing attempt.  Overall, they have averaged 33.3 points and 364 yards on offense per game.  Defensively, they are 41st with 3.23 yards allowed per rush attempt and 60th with 6.5 yards allowed per pass attempt.  Overall, they have allowed 26.3 points and 382 yards per game.

Coming up:  The Cowboys look to get back on track against Grambling State, Texas A&M and Missouri.  Less than two wins would be a disappointment.

Texas

Recap:  Texas has big wins over Louisiana-Monroe and Wyoming and came on top of a tough battle with Texas Tech.

Stats so far:  Texas is 54th with 4.17 yards per rush attempt and 43rd with 7.7 yards per passing attempt.  Overall, they have scored 44.7 points and gained 482 yards on offense per game.  Defensively, they are 11th with 2.07 yards allowed per rush attempt and 30th with 5.7 yards allowed per pass attempt.  Overall, they have allowed 18 points and 328.3 yards per game.

Coming up:  The Longhorns should get easy wins out of UTEP and Colorado before the big clash with Oklahoma.

Texas A&M

Recap:  The 2-0 start includes nice wins over New Mexico and Utah State.

Stats so far:  Texas A&M ranks 18th with 5.45 yards per rush attempt and 31st with 8.1 yards per passing attempt.  Overall, they have averaged 39.5 points and 589.5 yards on offense per game.  Defensively, they are 31st with 2.97 yards allowed per rush attempt and 52nd with 6.2 yards allowed per pass attempt.  Overall, they have allowed 18 points and 376 yards per game.

Coming up:  The Aggies have three winnable games coming up in UAB, Arkansas and Oklahoma State, but it won’t be easy.  Two of those would still be good.

Texas Tech

Recap:  Big wins over North Dakota and Rice led into a 10-point loss to Texas.

Stats so far:  Tech is 117th with 1.69 yards per rush attempt and 43rd with 7.7 yards per passing attempt.  Overall, they have scored 39 points and gained 473 yards on offense per game.  Defensively, they are 18th with 2.55 yards allowed per rush attempt and 18th with 5.2 yards allowed per pass attempt.  Overall, they have allowed 19 points and 268 yards per game.

Coming up:  The Red Raiders to bounce back quickly to avoid losing to wannabe BCS Buster Houston.  New Mexico and Kansas State follow in two games that should be wins.
